Jayne MacDonald, aged 16, a shop assistant who had recently left school, was the first non-prostitute, or an "innocent victim" as it was proclaimed, to die by the hand of Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper.
This was in the year of 1977 but i still feel that it is important for us to remember the life of Jayne MacDonald, and the way that she died.
About 30 yards into Reginald Street, near an adventure playground, Sutcliffe struck Jayne MacDonald with the hammer on the back of the head. After she fell down, he then dragged her, face down, about 20 yards into the corner of the play area. Her shoes made a "horrible scraping noise" along the ground as he dragged her. He hit her again with the hammer and then pulled her clothes up and stabbed her several times in the chest and in the back.
Peter was a sick man and Jayne got her revenge, peter is serving 30 years for the murder of jayne and many other girls. I think his prison sentence should have been longer.

i knew jayne very well, as my mum worked with jayne at grandways, and my mum loved her very much. I had my daughter in 1977 and jayne used to buy me lucozade when i had morning sickness, i have only just found this site from my nephew, so felt i should leave a mess of how fond of her i was,
peter sutcliffe should have hung for what he did to her and the rest of the victims, dont take any of the swear words off this site thats how people express there feelings i hope jayne is at peace and with my mum as she passed away 10 yrs ago now

I can't believe he even thought he deserved to get out of jail.... thankfully he was denied a release date, he's lucky to be still breathing because he does'nt deserve to be.... I hope he rots in hell.... god rest you Jayne luv..xx
jayne was my mums sister, my aunty. ive never met her but i miss her all the time. weirdly this group was created on my birthday. anyway i hope that disgusting man rots in hell and cannot believe my mums sister was snatched away for no reason and justification. i love you. and in reply to the below comment asking about jaynes mum, she died in 97

I never knew Jayne or her family, but I clearly remember the time of this awful event. Having just found this web site, I'd like to offer my thoughts and prayers for a young, blameless life so needlessly waste.
Does anyone know where Jayne is buried? If so I'd like to pay my respects there one day.

I would love to know more about Jaynes life and the other Ripper victims lives. We only here about the deaths and Sutcliffe. Someone should write about a book about these women because we have seen their faces so many times. Im sick of hearing about that creep. The Newspapers are obsessed with him. Hes holds a sort of film star status now.
Anyway, im glad that Jayne is remembered. It is nearly 32 years ago now and she would have been 48 now. Is her mother still alive? I know her father died shortly after Jayne was killed.
